Brand Honored At Jethawks’ Aerospace Appreciation Night

Former Apollo-Soyuz and Space Shuttle astronaut Vance Brand was honored this past weekend by the Lancaster Jethawks Class A California League baseball team during its annual Aerospace Appreciation Night. Brand, currently deputy associate director of aerospace programs at NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center and a resident of Tehachapi, and fellow astronaut / research pilot Gordon Fullerton flew two low-level passes in a NASA T-38 over the stadium just before game time. Brand then returned to sign autographs on hundreds of bobblehead dolls in his likeness for appreciative fans. The evening was complete when the Jethawks defeated the Lake Elsinore Storm, followed by a fireworks display after the game concluded.
