California Lieutenant Governor, Gavin Newsom, visited NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Calif., to celebrate the grand opening of Sustainability Base building. The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) announced recently that this new ultragreen federal facility received the highest level of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, LEED Platinum. In this picture, Newsom is speaking with William McDonough, the architect for the building and Pete Worden, NASA Ames Center Director.
