Yvette C. Harris

Director, Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity

Yvette C. Harris is the director of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Diversity, and Inclusion at NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland. In this position, she is responsible for supervising Glenn’s Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity (ODEO) staff and working as the principal advisor to the center director on ODEO matters. 

Before joining NASA in June 2020, Harris served as director of EEO for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Distribution in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, where she led a team of 16 EEO specialists stationed within the continental United States, DLA Europe/Africa, and the Indo-Pacific. Prior to that, Harris worked as the regional EEO director at Commander, Navy Region Southeast (CNRSE), Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida, where she supervised 24 EEO specialists throughout the Southeast and served as principal advisor to the CNRSE. Before this, Harris also worked as the EEO specialist at the Social Security Administration Headquarters in Woodlawn, Maryland, and a United States Marine Corps Equal Opportunity Advisor (Active Duty). 

Harris is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Superior Civilian Service Award and two Meritorious Civilian Service Awards. She is a 2007 Presidential Management Fellow with details at the Center for Leadership Capacity at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, Navy Comptroller Office, Jacksonville, Florida, and National Defense University for Disaster Preparedness Exercise Pandemic Fury. 

Harris has a Bachelor of Science in labor studies from Indiana University, a Master of Science in human resource management, and a Master of Science in counseling and psychology from Troy University. She holds a certificate in Essentials of Project Management from Villanova University.
