This subdirectory provides the Database files for the Mach 9.22 Hypersonic Turbulent 2D Compression Corner experiment
conducted by Coleman, Stollery and Elfstrom at the Imperial College Gun Tunnel No. 2. It was conducted with N2
as the working fluid. The experiment was actually conducted in two parts, first the pressure experiment of Elfstrom with
a flat plate length to the compression corner of X=43 cm, and then the heat transfer experiment of Coleman and Stollery
with a flat plate length to the compression corner of X=56 cm.

Included in the database are data from 15 degree attached case and 30 degree incipient separation case and
fully seperated 34 and 38 degree cases.

 The experiments were reported in:

 Elfstrom, G.M.
Turbulent hypersonic flow at a wedge-compression corner
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, Vol. 53, part 1, 1972, pp. 113-127.

 Coleman, G.T.
 Hypersonic Turbulent Boundary Layer Studies
PhD Thesis, Department of Aeronautics, Univ. of London, 1973.

 Coleman, G.T. and Stollery, J.L.
Heat transfer from hypersonic turbulent flow at a wedge compression corner
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, Vol. 56, part 4, 1972, pp. 741-752.

The data files reported in this current database are, however, obtained from the earlier database of:

 Settles, G.S. and Dodson, L.J.
 Hypersonic Shock/Boundary-Layer Interaction Database
 NASA CR 177577, April 1991.

Unlike the remaining reported experiments in this current database, CFD being reported herein are extracted from earlier
publications of NASA authors, rather than being newly done:

 Horstman, C.C.
Hypersonic Shock-Wave Turbulent Boundary-Layer Interaction Flows- Experiment and Computation
 AIAA Paper 91-1760, June 1991.

 Coakley, T.J., Horstman, C.C. Marvin, J.G., Viegas, J.R., Bardina, J.E., Huang, P.G. and Kussoy, M.I.

The computations reported by both Coakley and Horstman made use of a truncated grid with computational domain
only in the immediate vicinity of the compression corner, with the inlet Boundary condition making use of
a specified upstream boundary layer profile matching the experiment. This approach was common to many papers
of that era as the interest was turbulence modeling of SWTBLI.
The remaining cases of the current database make use of a full grid describing the entire geometry of
the experiment as the interest is in design or production CFD computation evaluation.
