Arthur Sears examines a model of a Hybrid Wing Body aircraft, a NASA vision for a future airliner that could use 50 percent less fuel, produce 50 percent less emissions and produce less noise compared to today’s commercial jets.
Hybrid wing body aircraft are among the possible future designs for vehicles that will be much friendlier for the environment. NASA and its partners are using models, simulations, wind tunnel tests, and flight tests of subscale remote-piloted vehicles to test their potential.
