Space Station Scientists, Astronauts to Visit Washington; Available for Interviews

NASA astronauts and scientists will visit the Washington metro area April 19-21 to share the accomplishments and opportunities for research aboard the International Space Station.

Veteran space station astronauts Barry “Butch” Wilmore and Mike Fossum will share their stories about living and working in space, their perspective on space station research opportunities and the special vantage point over Earth that the orbital laboratory provides. Station scientists Camille Alleyne and William Stefanov, and Center for Advancement of Science in Space’s (CASIS) Director of Commercial Innovation Cynthia Bouthot also will participate in several public events.

On Tuesday, April 19, NASA’s Driven to Explore exhibit will be available for public viewing from noon to 5 p.m. EDT outside the Boeing Company at 929 Long Bridge Drive in Arlington, Virginia. The mobile, multi-media exhibit immerses visitors in the story on NASA and features a moon rock returned to Earth by the Apollo 17 mission in 1972.

On Wednesday, April 20, Wilmore will share insights from his recent mission aboard the space station during a 7 p.m. Space Night hosted at 1110 Vermont Ave NW #500, Washington, D.C.

On Thursday, April 21, representatives from NASA and CASIS will highlight the many commercial opportunities the space station provides for researchers at an industry day from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., also held at General Assembly. At 4 p.m., Wilmore will participate in a Facebook Live event with the Huffington Post Science and Tech page. Followers can take part in the conversation at:
