NASA Glenn, MAGNET Inspire Students to Explore Manufacturing Careers

On Oct. 27, nearly 100 students from seven local schools will explore the manufacturing career field with NASA Glenn Research Center during its Manufacturing Day event from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Members of the media are invited to attend.

Manufacturing Day, hosted by Glenn’s Office of Education in partnership with the Manufacturing Advocacy and Growth Network (MAGNET), aims to educate high school students on manufacturing careers and encourage them to pursue professions within the field.

Attendees will tour Glenn’s Manufacturing Facility, the Simulated Lunar Operations (SLOPE) Lab and the Exercise Countermeasures Lab. Students will also have the opportunity to take part in a panel discussion with manufacturing engineers from Glenn. Featured panelists include: Thomas Hartline, Facilities, Test and Manufacturing director; Brian Brandenburg, early-career technician; Tom DeMichael, early-career manufacturing engineer; Dan Kocka, senior manufacturing engineer and Bryan Barreiro, manufacturing engineer co-op.

Participating schools include: Lorain High School, Lorain County Joint Vocational School, Rhodes High School, Polaris Career Center, Olmsted Falls High School, Strongsville High School and Midview High School.
