NASA Awards Funding to Support Professional Development Programs for STEM Educators

NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland has awarded approximately $125,000 to schools and organizations to launch professional development programs for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) educators.

The award is intended to strengthen STEM programs for K-12 teachers across Ohio through the use of NASA content. The grant also includes support from Glenn’s scientists, engineers and education staff and access to Glenn’s world-class facilities.

“This is an excellent opportunity for NASA to help teachers lay a strong foundation of STEM learning,” said Rob LaSalvia, chief of Glenn’s Education Program Office. “NASA is committed to supporting schools in developing the next generation of scientists and engineers necessary to achieve our mission of exploration and discovery.”

The schools and organizations awarded the grant are: Advanced Methods in Innovation, INVENTOR cloud, Youngstown; Bowling Green State University, Project Assets, Bowling Green; EnvisionEdPlus, Reynoldsburg; North Point Educational Services, Sandusky; PAST Foundation, Lift Off, Columbus; Springboro Community City Schools, Springboro; STEM Accelerated Coding, NASA Geospatial Coding Project, Cleveland; and The Works: Ohio Center for History, Art and Technology, SciDome Academy, Newark.
