NASA Now Has Half of all Webb Telescope's Primary Flight Mirrors

Another delivery of the James Webb Space Telescope's flight mirrors arrived at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md., during the week of April 29, 2013. The latest arrivals included the seventh, eighth and ninth primary mirror segments. There are a total of 18 flight primary mirror segments, and nine of the 18 flight mirrors are now at NASA Goddard.

In addition, Goddard has a completed flight spare and two unfinished spares in one of its clean rooms. The flight mirrors are now waiting to be attached to the telescope structure, which is slated for completion and arrival at Goddard in 2015.
