STS-131 Launch Coverage

    Anna HeineyThe STS-131 launch countdown proceeded smoothly toward the on-time liftoff of space shuttle Discovery at 6:21 a.m. EDT on April 5, 2010. Anna Heiney provided updates from Firing Room 3, inside the Launch Control Center at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

    Commander Alan Poindexter led the 33rd mission to the International Space Station. Pilot Jim Dutton, along with Mission Specialists Rick Mastracchio, Clay Anderson, Dorothy Metcalf-Lindenburger, Stephanie Wilson and Naoko Yamazaki of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, rounded out the seven-member crew. Discovery delivered a multi-purpose logistics module filled with science racks to be used in the station's laboratories.
