    Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Launch Blog

    The MSL Curiosity inside the cruise stage. The Mars Science Laboratory named "Curiosity" launched Nov. 26, 2011 at 10:02 a.m. EST aboard an Atlas V rocket. The MSL is a rover carrying 10 instruments to study the Martian surface in unprecedented ways.

    Curiosity also is much larger than any rover previously sent to Mars, about the size of a small SUV.
