As a cosmic photographer, NASA's Hubble Space Telescope has taken over a million snapshots documenting the universe. These images illustrate, explain, and inspire us with their grandeur. But how are those images taken and processed? This video, winner of a Webby Award, explains the answer to that question.

Sonifications

Ever wonder what the music of the spheres would sound like? Hubble brings us cosmic sights, but these astronomical marvels can also be experienced with other senses. Through data sonification, the same digital data that is translated into images is transformed into sound.

This e-book highlights the Hubble mission’s recent discoveries about worlds outside our solar system, known as exoplanets and is part of a series called Hubble Focus, which presents some of Hubble's recent cosmic discoveries. Its cover, shown here, features an illustration of the scorching hot planet Kepler-13Ab that orbits extremely close to its host star, Kepler-13A, which is part of a multiple star system. The star’s companions, Kepler-13B and the small orange-red dwarf Kepler-13C, are in the background.
