Ash Plume from Kizimen Volcano
This image from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument that flies aboard NASA's Terra satellite shows the brownish colored ash plume and ash on snow from Kizimen, Kamchatka Peninsula, in eastern Russia. The image was captured on March 20 at 00:35 UTC (March 19 at 8:35 p.m. EDT). Last week on March, 15 the Kamchatka volcanoes Shiveluch, Karymsky and Kizimen were all spewing ash. According to ITAR-Tass, there were warnings issued for aircraft.
