Fires and Burn Scars in Northern Australia
In this false-color image taken by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument on the Aqua satellite, actively burning fires, detected by MODIS’s thermal bands, are outlined in red, and burn scars are clearly visible in the Northern Territory of Australia. This image was taken on September 18, 2012.
