Cassini's First Titan Visit in the New Year

Image credit: NASA/JPL During the Cassini spacecraft's next encounter with Titan on Jan. 5 its visual and infrared mapping spectrometer will map the Huygens probe's landing site, now in direct sunlight. This flyby also features two separate stellar occultations to study the structure of Titan's atmosphere. The spectrometer will be watching the star Alpha Bootes, and the ultraviolet imaging spectrograph will be pointed toward Alpha Lyra.
