Update: Asteroid Initiative Idea Synthesis Workshop

After receiving more than 400 responses to the Asteroid Initiative RFI, NASA continues to review the submissions received from industry, scientists, engineers, and space enthusiasts worldwide.
As a follow up to the RFI, we will invite many of the RFI submitters to share and discuss their ideas with the broader Asteroid Initiative community during an idea synthesis workshop next month. The workshop will have a virtual attendance capability for the public to participate.

June 27 Google+ Hangout : NASA invited all interested parties to participate in a Google+ Hangout on June 27 at 2 p.m. EDT. During the session, NASA experts answered questions about the recently released Asteroid Initiative Request for Information (RFI) outlined below. The RFI is open to all organizations and individuals, and submissions are due July 18. Please send your RFI-related questions to hq-asteroid-rfi@mail.nasa.gov. |

NASA has released a Request for Information (RFI) on system concepts and innovative approaches for both aspects of the recently announced Asteroid Initiative. The initiative includes an Asteroid Redirect Mission, and an increased focus on defending our planet against the threat of catastrophic asteroid collisions.
