Test set-up for the Pilotless Aircraft Research Division (PARD) at Wallops Island in 1950. The PARD was led by Langley’s Robert Gilruth. He along with many PARD members were chosen to form the core of the Space Task Group that planned the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo Missions.
