Brian Grefenstette is a research scientist at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. Grefenstette received an undergraduate degree in Physics from Stanford University, Palo Alto, Calif., before completing his doctorate in physics at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He joined the NuSTAR team at Caltech in 2009 as a postdoctoral researcher, working on the teams that received NASA Group Achievement Awards for the implementation and calibration of the NuSTAR instrument as well as for the commissioning of the observatory. He is now a principle mission scientist for NuSTAR, with research interests concentrating on supernova remnants and X-ray emission from black hole and neutron star binary systems.
