SHUTTLE, STATION CREWMEMBERS TO HONOR SEPTEMBER 11 VICTIMS

     As part of a nationwide tribute to those who lost their 
lives in the September 11th attacks on America, crewmembers 
aboard Space Shuttle Endeavour and the International Space 
Station will mark the three-month anniversary of the attacks 
tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at 8:46 a.m. EST. 

The tribute is part of the continuing coverage of the STS-108 
mission.

The tribute, which will be carried on NASA Television, is 
expected to include the playing of the U.S. and Russian 
national anthems in the Space Shuttle and International Space 
Station Mission Control Centers at NASA's Johnson Space 
Center in Houston. Remarks from the three commanders and the 
playing of a taped tribute from the ten crewmembers aboard 
the space shuttle and orbiting space station will also be 
included in tomorrow's event.

Endeavour is orbiting the Earth with 6000 small American 
flags that are part of the agency's  "Flags for Heroes and 
Families" program. Also aboard the shuttle are three large 
U.S. and Marine Corps flags, which were flying at the World 
Trade Center, the Pentagon and the Pennsylvania State 
Capitol, along with a number of New York City police officer 
shields and patches, a Fire Department of New York flag and a 
poster with the pictures of firefighters who lost their lives 
in the attacks.

NASA TV is available on GE-2, Transponder 9C at 85 degrees 
West longitude, vertical polarization, with a frequency of 
3880 MHz, and audio of 6.8 MHz.
