Mission: Cloud-Aerosol Lidar and Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Observations and CloudSat Launch Vehicle: Boeing Delta 7420 with Dual Payload Attach Fitting

The satellites are installed within the Dual Payload Attach Fitting at the Astrotech payload processing facilities. When Boeing labor contract issues are resolved, the payload combination will be placed in an environmentally-controlled canister and installed on the payload transporter for the trip to the launch pad.
Delta II preparations at Launch Complex 2 have gone according to schedule. Work is on hold until the payloads arrive at the pad for installation on top of the second stage. NASA, Boeing and the Air Force are addressing the problem encountered while testing batteries used for the flight termination system of the Delta II.

Launch Date: Jan. 11, 2006
Launch Window: 2:07 to 4:07 p.m. EST
The spacecraft is undergoing autonomy testing this week to determine whether it can function without having contact with Earth. Final thermal blanket installation will be completed this week. Hurricane Wilma caused some minor damage to the solid rocket booster that was attached to the Atlas V. As a precaution the booster is being replaced. Attachment of the remaining four solid rocket boosters resumes later this week. Previous status reports are available on the Web at:
