Journal Contributor Chris Gainor writes:
I work in public relations in Victoria, B.C., Canada. As a journalist and historian who has had a lifelong interest in space travel, I have written on the U.S. and Russian space programs for Canadian newspapers, and for Spaceflight and Quest magazines.
At present, I am writing a book about the group of 32 Canadian and
British engineers who joined the NASA Space Task Group in 1959 after the
Canadian government cancelled the CF-105 Avro Arrow jet interceptor
program. Many of these engineers went on to take leading roles in the
Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs, including Jim Chamberlin, designer
of the Gemini spacecraft, Owen Maynard, head of systems engineering for
Apollo, and flight director John Hodge.
