I was lucky enough to witness Apollo 17's launch from across the river. I was seven years old at the time. It was fantastic and the three-fold attack on my senses of that raw power will forever be etched in my memory.

I also was there for the A16 launch, sort of. The two things that I remember were a severe case of sun poisoning; and a white dot of light about 40 miles down the coast. Talk about a let down! Mom and Dad simply weren't sure where to go. They got it right the second time around.
