Orion MPCV HIB Splash Test – Aug 2, 2011

This is the third Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV) water landing test conducted at the Hydro Impact Basin at NASA Langley Research Center. This test represented the worst-case scenario for landing.
The prediction had a 50-percent chance of the test article getting inverted. The Orion Project Team collects valuable data regarding Crew Module stability. The team also obtained invaluable experience in righting the test article.
