Fairbanks, Alaska was one of the beneficiaries of the latest blast from the sun. “The sky was barely dark before the northern lights began dancing over Alaska’s Golden Heart City, including this beautiful auroral corona at the magnetic zenith nearly directly overhead” said Dennis Mammana. This aurora display was a result of a fast solar wind stream and, possibly, the magnetic filament eruption from the sun’s western limb on Feb. 17.
