Road to Mission Success Workshop

About the Workshop

The Road to Mission Success (RTMS) workshop is an interactive learning series about Goddard’s integrated approach to successful missions – the big picture view of how NASA and Goddard does business. The workshop is structured to transfer the experience, wisdom and values embedded in the center’s policies, procedures and processes.

This workshop is designed for emerging managers and leaders. It equips the workforce with critical knowledge about how Goddard works and the drivers of mission success.  Interactive learning and knowledge exchange is facilitated through presentations, class discussion and active case studies assignments. The RTMS workshop series focuses on the following themes that drive mission success at Goddard:

  • GSFC History and Culture
  • Leadership Perspectives and Decision Making
  • Science
  • Innovation, Technology, and New Concepts
  • Project Management
  • Engineering and Systems Engineering
  • Procurement and Acquisition
  • Safety and Mission Assurance
  • Lessons Learned and Mission Success

Various NASA leaders and subject matter experts share their accumulated technical wisdom on these themes.

To learn more about how to register for RTMS contact your directorate’s training coordinator or look for announcement of the next offering on Dateline. A call for self-nominations will be published on Dateline prior to the offering of the workshop. Self-nominations will be compiled and sent to the directorates, where the participants for the workshop are chosen. Workshops are normally held twice a year during the Spring and the Fall.

Participants will be contacted and registered in SATERN after the directorates have selected their participants. Self-nomination does not mean that you are registered for the course. Participation is based on nominations received from the directorates.

In order to be eligible for RTMS you must:

1) Be a Civil Servant with a minimum of 1 year of NASA or Goddard service

2) Be available and able to commit to attending the entire workshop series
