First-Time NASA Wallops Take-off For NASA's Global Hawk 871

At 07:29 a.m. EDT on Sept. 3, NASA's Global Hawk 871 departed from runway 22 at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Wallops Island, Va. This was the first takeoff of GH 871 from Wallops for this aircraft, since it was not here last year. The previous three HS3 science flights this year were with GH 872. The aircraft is flying to the Caribbean to study a low pressure area that could become a tropical cyclone in a few days.Credit: NASA / Lori Losey
