Hancock County Students Provide Winning Name for Stennis Astronaut Mascot

Students at South Hancock Elementary School in Bay St. Louis gather around Orbie the Astronaut on May 19 as teacher Sarah Ladner affixes a nameplate to the Stennis Space Center mascot. South Hancock students were visited by Orbie after Ladner's third-grade class won a contest to name the inflatable astronaut. Stennis Space Center Director Patrick Scheuermann thanked Ladner and her students for their participation in the contest and presented the class with a large, commemorative photo of Orbie. Ladner's students also were able to participate in several hands-on, space-related activities during the morning visit.
