NASA's Marshall Center to Celebrate Holiday Season With 'Rocket-Lighting' Ceremony Nov. 30
What: NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center will kick off the holiday season with a "rocket-lighting" ceremony Nov. 30. Thousands of colored lights will twinkle all the way down the Saturn I -- the tallest of the historic rockets at Marshall's Rocket Park. The lights will be officially lit by Marshall Center Director Patrick Scheuermann and a special guest from the North Pole. Children enrolled at Marshall’s Child Development Center will sing holiday favorites. Hot cocoa and cookies will be served prior to the lighting of the rocket at 4:45 p.m. Members of the news media are invited to attend.

Where: The lighting ceremony will take place at Marshall's Rocket Park, near the intersection of Rideout and Mercury roads.

When: Nov. 30, 4:45-5:15 p.m. CST

To attend: News media interested in attending the events should contact Angela Storey in Marshall's Public & Employee Communications Office at 256-544-0034 no later than 4 p.m. CST on Thursday, Nov. 29. Media must report to the Redstone Arsenal Joint Visitor Control Center at Gate 9, Interstate 565 interchange at Rideout Road/Research Park Boulevard. Vehicles are subject to a security search at the gate. News media will need two photo identifications and proof of car insurance.
