Flags Flown at Half Staff for Va Tech
4.17.07
NASA Headquarters this afternoon directed that U.S. flags at agency centers be flown at half staff in honor of those who have fallen at Virginia Tech. This morning, the Virginia flag was lowered to half staff at Langley as a result of request by Virginia Governor Tim Kaine.
The following e-mail was sent to NASA Langley employees from NASA Langley Director, Lesa Roe.
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I know that all of us have Virginia Tech in our thoughts and prayers right now. Our web of relationships with Tech is large and embracing, and to witness this violence strikes deeply into every one of our hearts.
So many at Langley have children, grandchildren, other relatives and friends and colleagues who are associated with the university. Many employees are graduates, and some are still connected with the school personally, professionally, or both.
I know that our Langley community will share, mourn, and work bravely to recover. I am exploring ways to help any of our employees who need assistance during this time.
Sincerely,
Lesa
