In the spirit of inspiring the next generation of explorers, NASA Langley’s Office of Equal Opportunity Programs, Office of Strategic Analysis, Communications and Business Development, and Office of Education, along with countless volunteers, invite employees to bring in young guests for Youth Day on Friday, August 17.
Activities will be located in and around the Reid Conference Center from 8:00 a.m. until noon.
Visitors will learn about exploration from former NASA astronaut, Leland Melvin, who served on board the Space Shuttle Atlantis as a mission specialist on STS-122, and as mission specialist 1 on STS-129.
Tristan Jolley, who attracted attention in May when he and dad Brian Jolley launched a gizmo-filled lunchbox attached to a weather balloon, will also be at NASA Langley's Youth Day. Jolley, a Mack Benn Jr. Elementary student, will describe his project and take controls of a plane on a Tuskegee Young Eagles flight.
Guests can explore new interactive exhibits, try exciting hands-on experiments, and take a tour of NASA Langley’s facilities.
Registration for the event is not necessary, however, employees should inform their supervisors regarding their planned participation. For security purposes, sponsors are required to accompany their visitors at all times while on the center, and badges are not required for visitors under the age of 16.
REMINDER ABOUT VISITOR BADGES:
Employees are encouraged to prearrange visitor badges in advance for the event. Sponsors of visitors must submit a Langley Form 103 a minimum of 3 working days prior to the date of the event. Anyone 16 and over will require a visitor badge and sponsorship.
