Members from NASA Langley's outreach team spoke to thousands of Starfleet, Klingon, Federation and deep-space exploration fans -- better known as Trekkies -- at the opening of the latest Star Trek movie, "Into Darkness."

At the event, which was held at Regal Cinema in Richmond, Va., fans and movie goers had the opportunity to learn about the Mars Science Lab Curiosity Rover, astronauts in space, the James Webb Space Telescope, and current and future NASA missions, such as the Orion spacecraft and the Space Launch System.

Attendees were able to meet Sally Kellerman, who starred as Dr. Elizabeth Dehner in the original "Star Trek" series and Major Margaret Houllihan in "M*A*S*H." They also had the chance to take pictures with Star Trek Klingons, a NASA astronaut replica, and meet the crew of the Starship Farragut.
