Week of the Young Child - Day Two

Students and teachers at the Langley Child Development Center (LCDC) continued to celebrate the Week of the Young Child on Tuesday with "Sports Day." The Turtles, Busy Bees and Tri-tops classrooms, along with teachers Jannie Moore (in red) and Krystle Eanes (in black), enjoyed some of their outdoor time with rainbow parachute activities.

Much of the day was spent on the playground, doing field day physical movement activities. Each teacher had special activities for their classrooms.

"Sports Day" ties in with one of the week's sub-themes to encourage health and fitness.

The following statement from the American Academy of Pediatrics was shared with the LCDC parents: "As a parent, you need to encourage healthy habits -- including exercise -- in your youngsters. Physical activity should become as routine a part of their lives as eating and sleeping."
