Orion Crew Module KSC Ground Ops Pathfinder
Orion Crew Module KSC Ground Ops Pathfinder

Work continues on the fabrication of the Orion Crew Module KSC Ground Operations pathfinder in building 1232A at NASA Langley.

The pathfinder will be shipped to Kennedy Space Center in September so ground operation crews there can practice lifting and moving it.

The purpose of the pathfinder is to give crews experience in developing vehicle processing methods such as access, transportation, interfaces, clearances, and integration prior to working with the actual flight Orion Crew Module.

Project manager Jonathan Cruz reported that work on the pathfinder is ahead of schedule. In the picture above, what look like pins sticking out of the pathfinder are actually temporary fasteners.
