NASA aeronautics researchers attending the American Helicopter Society's Annual Forum got the rare opportunity to check out a Marine V-22 Osprey in action.

The tilt-rotor landed in a parking lot adjacent to the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

Rotorcraft researchers from Langley, Ames and Glenn Research Centers presented 31 papers at the three-day technical conference that featured a who's who in vertical flight technology.

NASA is working with industry, universities and other government agencies to try to radically improve rotorcraft performance and efficiency and reduce noise and emissions.
