|A. David Flowers is the Chief Financial Officer at the John F. Kennedy Space Center (KSC). He is responsible for the centralized planning and analysis of all Center resources and financial management activities and provides the focal point to ensure a uniform Center posture for the development and execution of resources decisions. Mr. Flowers serves as the principal advisor to the Center Director for strategy development, planning and policy concerning Agency and Center resources and financial management. He is also responsible for managing activities of 90 professional and non-professional employees assigned to the Chief Financial Officer Organization.
Prior to his appointment to this position in October 1993, A. David Flowers was the Associate Director of Payload Management and Operations at the John F. Kennedy Space Center (KSC). His responsibility was to the Director for the Integration and coordination of the Directorate day- to-day operations and long-range planning.
Prior to his appointment to this position in January 1989, Mr. Flowers was the Chief of the Project Control Office, Space Station Project Office at KSC. He was responsible for the integration of technical requirements, schedules, and resources for KSC Space Station development and operations activities.
Mr. Flowers served in the U.S. Air Force from October 1962 to April 1965, and worked on both the Atlas-Agena and Gemini programs. He joined KSC in April 1965 and worked in the Apollo Project Office.
He has held subsequent positions of increasing responsibility at KSC as a Test Supervisor in Launch Operations beginning in 1967; as Orbiter Manager in the Shuttle Project Office, 1974; as Chief of the Performance Management System Office in the Shuttle Project Office, 1980; and Chief of the Requirements Analysis Office, Comptroller Office, 1983.
Mr. Flowers has received a Certificate of Commendation and two NASA Exceptional Service Medals.
Mr. Flowers was born in Smithfield, North Carolina. He received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from North Carolina State University. He and his wife, the former Ruth Brown of Raleigh, North Carolina, have two children, David Flowers, Jr. and Diane.
Mr. Flowers and his wife reside in Titusville, FL.
