Joe D. Dowdy

Joe D. Dowdy was special operations manager in the Office of the Director at NASA's John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida, a position he assumed in February 2007. He managed special projects and provided organizational advice to the center director and the Senior Management Team to improve processes and better accomplish Kennedy's assigned missions.
Dowdy joined NASA after serving 25 years in the United States Marine Corps and capped his military career as a colonel. During his service in the Marine Corps, Dowdy served in a variety of staff and command positions. He participated in Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM, and contingency operations in Beirut, Lebanon, Panama, Somalia and East Timor.
Dowdy graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1979 and earned a Master of Arts from Webster University and a Master of Arts from the U.S. Army War College in 2001.
Dowdy lives in Cocoa Beach, Fla., with his wife Priscilla and has three children: John, Betsy and Jefferson.
