NASA has awarded a contract for information technology services and security at NASA's Johnson Space Center, Houston, to Muniz Engineering, Inc. of Houston. Dyncorp Technical Services LLC of Fort Worth, Texas, will be a major subcontractor. The JSC Enabling Technology and Security (JETS) contract has a potential value of $35 million.

The procurement was conducted as a small business set-aside.

Work under the contract will be performed at JSC and will provide products and services supporting the Information Resources Directorate at JSC. The types of service provided by the JETS contract are general systems management, network security and firewall maintenance for select JSC systems. Activities performed under this contract will include network security, system administration, account management, data backup and system performance monitoring, as well as the installation, configuration operation and maintenance of all assigned software. In addition, the contractor will perform technical assessments, security testing, development and updating of JSC Information Technology Security Plans, and other security-related activities.

The contract is a hybrid cost-plus award fee/firm fixed price, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity type with a basic two-year period of performance not to exceed $14 million. Three option periods are available and, if all are exercised, would extend the period of performance to five years, with a total contract value not to exceed $35 million.

The contract will assist in meeting the objectives of the Information Resources Directorate at JSC and is being awarded to consolidate three existing technology contracts. The goal of the consolidation is to increase efficiency and provide effective information technology security for the JSC infrastructure.
