Astronauts to Conduct Live Education Videoconference
A rehearsal is scheduled for 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. CST on Wednesday, March
13, 1996, in preparation for the March 14, 1996, 1 p.m. CST live,
interactive videoconference with crewmembers from the November 1995
STS-73 United States Microgravity Laboratory 2 mission. News media
reporters and photographers are welcome to attend the rehearsal in
JSC1s Teague Broadcast Center studio on Wednesday, March 13, 1996, to
cover the event. However, news media coverage of the actual program
will be limited to interviews with students and teachers at JSC
immediately after the program ends at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 14,
1996.
The program is a follow-on to the on-orbit education events conducted
by crewmembers during the November mission. The Astronauts will be in
JSC1s Teague Broadcast Center studio along with students and teachers
from the Friendswood Independent School District. The students and
teachers from the four downlink sites--Bozeman, Montana; Las Cruces,
New Mexico; Worcester, Massachusetts; and Louisville, Kentucky--will
interact with the astronauts, students and teachers in the JSC
studio. A question and answer session including each remote downlink
site is included in the program.
NASA Television is broadcast on GTE Spacenet 2, transponder 5 (channel
9) at 69 degrees West longitude. The transponder frequency is 3880
MHz, with audio subcarrier at 6.8 MHz horizontal polarization.
