"Building Your Company via Technology Transfer," a seminar hosted by the NASA Technology Commercialization Center will be held Monday, September 27, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the Nassau Bay Hilton Hotel at 3000 NASA Road One, Houston, Texas.

The two-hour program is designed to assist entrepreneurs in adapting NASA technology for industrial uses.

Topics to be presented are "Facilitating the Process of Technology Transfer" by Jill D. Fabricant, Ph.D, NASA Technology Commercialization Center at NASA Johnson Space Center, "A History of a Successful Company" by Emyre Barrios Robinson of Barrios Technology, Inc., "Essentials of Starting a Business" by E. R. Geisinger, C.P.A., KPMG Peat Marwick, and "How Patents are Licensed" by Edward K. Fein, J.D., NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) Legal Office.

This seminar is an outreach effort of the newly established NASA Technology Commercialization Center (TCC) at JSC that is being managed by Fabricant under a $400,000 first-year contract with the IC Institute at The University of Texas at Austin. Funding for the Center is expected to be approximately $1 million a year for 1994 and 1995.

The TCC's charter is to integrate the variety of technologies being developed at JSC laboratories with the economic and business infrastructure existing in Houston to accelerate technology commercialization so the public can gain the benefits from space research much faster. Fabricant hopes to bring together entrepreneurs, business managers, scientists, and engineers at this seminar to explore and create new business opportunities.

The event is open to the public and is free. Reservations may be made by calling 1-800-246-7232.
