Students Learn Math and Science Can Be Fun and Interesting
Engineers and scientists from NASA's Glenn Research Center, Cleveland, will visit schools throughout Northeast Ohio during Engineers Week to show students that math and science can be challenging yet fun.
Between February 21 and 24, Glenn representatives will travel to 46 elementary, middle and high schools to share their enthusiasm for their careers and explain through demonstrations and simple explanations how engineering relates to everyday life.
The interaction with K-12 students provides an opportunity to expose younger students to the world of science and math and inspire the middle and high school students to pursue careers in the fields of engineering, science and technology.
The classroom visits program is part of Engineers Week activities in the Cleveland area and is supported by Glenn's Educational Programs Office in conjunction with the Cleveland Area Engineers Week Committee.
The National Society of Professional Engineers established Engineers Week in 1951 to increase public awareness and appreciation of the engineering profession.
The following cities and schools are participating in this year's program. Media representatives interested in covering these visits must make arrangements directly with the schools involved.
