UC Santa Cruz - Silicon Valley Initiatives
The UCSC Silicon Valley Initiatives comprise a set of educational and research activities that together increase the presence of UC in the Silicon Valley. UCSC intends to bring its cutting edge research capability to the Silicon Valley Center located in the NASA Research Park. The four major initiatives are:
NASA Research Park Office Contact
- Academic Programs for students onsite and via distance learning at the graduate level and eventually the undergraduate level to support workforce development for high tech employment including with NASA.
- Construct a new facility in the NRP for a Bio-Info-Nano Research and Development Institute (BIN-RDI)
- The Collaborative for Higher Education including UCSC, San Jose State University, and the Foothill-De Anza Community College District. The goal of the Collaborative is to address Silicon Valley's critical education and workforce needs through joint research and education programs located at the Silicon Valley Center.
- The University Affiliated Research Center (UARC), an agreement between UC and NASA where UCSC manages a national NASA-funded research program valued at $330M. The 10 year contract will establish a UARC at the NASA Ames Research Center.
