NASA’s SSERVI Partners with Australia for Solar System Exploration Science

Yvonne Pendleton (left), director of NASA’s Solar System Exploration Research Virtual Institute (SSERVI), joins Professor Phil Bland, Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Australia, to sign an international agreement sharing scientific and technological expertise in exploration science.

“We are eager to see the collaborative scientific discoveries that result from this partnership,” said Pendleton. “Australia’s impressive proposal to SSERVI offers expertise in understanding solar system origins and evolution, lunar science, planetary mission science and technology and other advanced analytical techniques, along with the establishment of links with the exoplanet and stellar evolution astrophysical communities.”

Based and managed at NASA’s Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California, SSERVI is a virtual institute that, together with international partners, brings researchers together in a collaborative virtual setting. The virtual institute model enables cross-team and interdisciplinary research that advances the boundaries of science and exploration.
