Letter From President George W. Bush

    Seal of the White House

    August 29, 2007

President George W. Bush I send greetings to those celebrating the 50th anniversary of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

More than five centuries ago, Christopher Columbus set out on a long and challenging journey across the Atlantic that led the way for exploration of the Americas. Today, the same passion for discovery that drove Columbus is leading bold visionaries in NASA to explore the frontiers of space. From placing a man on the moon to establishing a space station in Earth’s orbit, NASA’s leadership in innovation and scientific research is unmatched.

I commend the scientists, astronauts, engineers, and all those involved with NASA for your commitment to excellence. Your work reflects the best of the American spirit.

Laura and I send our best wishes for a memorable celebration.

    George W. Bush
