The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake: A Century of Quake Research
04.14.06

In the early morning hours of April 18, 1906, a violent earthquake shook San Francisco and the surrounding area. It was felt from southern Oregon to south of Los Angeles and inland as far as central Nevada. One hundred years later, scientists know a great deal more about earthquakes and their research continues.

Earthquake researchers at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif., and other institutions around the world are working together to study patterns in earthquakes and to develop new technologies that will more precisely track ground movement. The following presentations highlight this research.
