Dust Storm in Northeastern Arizona

NASA's Terra spacecraft captured this image of a dust storm in northeastern Arizona in April 2009. Winds blowing desert dust east from semi-arid regions in the U.S. Southwest trigger the "dust-on-snow" events responsible for the observed speedup in Colorado River snowmelt and reduced river runoff.
