Coastal Chile (Perspective View)
The topography of coastal Chile is well shown in this color-coded shaded relief perspective view generated with digital elevation data from NASA's Shuttle Radar Topography Mission. On Feb. 27, 2010, a magnitude 8.8 earthquake struck just offshore of the Maule region (the epicenter is indicated by the red marker) in the Bahia de Chanco.
