We will continue to monitor the storm closely and adjust our plans as necessary based on any potential shifts in the storm track. Below is an overview of the NASA HQ preparations for Hurricane Irene. The NASA Headquarters Incident Commander has activated the Incident Command Post (ICP) and approved an Incident Action Plan. Facilities has coordinated with Building Management: The generator fuel tanks are topped off on all generators. All furniture on the roof and 2nd floor patio and in front of the building has been removed or secured. Cleaned storm drains in the garage, loading dock, and fan shafts. Storm water pumps have been inspected and tested and are on emergency power. All battery powered emergency lights have been tested and replaced where necessary. A small portable generator and sump pump can be deployed as needed. Staging two pallets of sandbags in the event the municipal storm system is overloaded and water approaches the entrances to the lobbies. Security has prepositioned emergency supplies for security officers. Information Technology Communications Division (ITCD) has confirmed that the NASA Headquarters Computer Center (NHCC) power down SOP can be activated if necessary. Human Resources Mission Directorate has confirmed contingency plans in place for personnel accountability. Damage Assessment Team has been notified and placed on standby.
