Major Completed Actions

NASA completed all awards of Science, Exploration, Cross-Agency Support, and Aeronautics contracts and cooperative agreements in accordance with applicable Program Plans and Recovery Act provisions, and more than 93% of funds appropriated have been disbursed for those projects.

Aeronautics: For the Aero Test Program at Glenn Research Center (GRC), the redesigned replacement evaporator has been installed and circuits recharged with refrigerant for the Glenn Icing Research Tunnel Refrigeration and Tunnel HEX Project.

Science: For Airborne Science at Dryden Flight Research Center (DFRC), completed were assembly of the Infrared Spectrometer at Space Dynamic Laboratory (SDL) and the mechanical design for the Radiometric Stability Monitor (RSM), as well as delivery of the Zemax optical model for final evaluation. For Venture Class, the High-Altitude Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit (MMIC) Sounding Radiometer (HAMSR) was installed on the Global Hawk aircraft and an end-to-end test was performed.

Exploration: Continued progress toward meeting all major planned activities.

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): NASA continues to support a performance audit on the Cross-Agency Support JSC Hurricane Repair activities which began on August 31, 2010.

Planned Actions

In September, NASA will continue to provide quality assurance of ARRA Recipients and initiate preparations for the 2011 Q3 Recipient Reporting period.

Aeronautics: Supersonics at GRC for test planning and preparation in support of wind tunnel testing, and PSL Icing Capability Project final electrical terminations to field devices and control systems, will continue in September.

Science: Planned to continue in September: the Airborne Science Ku Satcom modem assemblies for UAVSAR L-3 Communication, the NASDAT prototype testing, ground control testing for GHMOF, and the Research prototype Landsat analysis workflow starting with two 30-year time series in California; for Venture Class, the High Altitude MMIC Sounding Radiometer (HAMSR) preparation for deployment and CARVE flight planning.

Exploration: The ARES (Upper Stage) Vertical Assembly Tool software coding will continue in September.

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): All CAS restoration projects are completed; no additional repairs are planned.
