Major Completed Actions

NASA completed all awards of Science, Exploration, Cross-Agency Support, and Aeronautics contracts and cooperative agreements in accordance with applicable Program Plans and Recovery Act provisions, and more than 89% of funds appropriated have been disbursed for those projects.

Aeronautics: At the Langley Research Center (LARC), the Aeronautics Test Program completed the Traverse Mechanism final design for the LARC 14x22 wind tunnel modification.

Science: For Airborne Science, the Dryden Flight Research Center, in coordination with the University of Alaska, completed two flights using the Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR) to survey Glacier Bay glaciers; and the Venture Class Carbon in Arctic Reservoirs Vulnerability Experiment (CARVE) in the final stages of flight planning and logistics for next week’s deployment to Colorado and Oklahoma City.

Exploration: Completed the Human Rating requirements handbook task in support of commercial crew.

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): NASA continues to support a performance audit on the Cross-Agency Support JSC Hurricane Repair activities which began on August 31st.

Planned Actions

NASA will continue providing quality assurance of Recipients during the period in June.

Aeronautics: Supersonics at GRC for test planning and preparation in support of wind tunnel testing, and PSL Icing Capability Project final electrical terminations to field devices and control systems, will continue in June.

Science: Continue in June Research Science, Virtual Terrestrial Observation and Prediction System (V-TOPS) collaboration with USDA & CSU Fresno for sensor network installations in California; Venture Class Carbon in Arctic Reservoirs Vulnerability Experiment (CARVE) on the Twin Otter preparing for June deployment to Oklahoma City, OK, for flights over Colorado; and nearing June completion for final walk through of the Airborne Science, Dryden Flight Research Center (DFRC) Aircraft Operations Facility (DAOF).

Exploration: The ARES (Upper Stage) Vertical Assembly Tool software coding will continue in June.

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): All CAS restoration projects are completed; no additional repairs are planned.
