Major Completed Actions

NASA completed all awards of Science, Exploration, Cross-Agency Support, and Aeronautics contracts and cooperative agreements in accordance with applicable Program Plans and Recovery Act provisions, and more than 87% of funds appropriated have been disbursed for those projects. Validated and submitted the NASA Final Master List.

Aeronautics: At the Glenn Research Center (GRC), completed important milestones for the Aeronautics Test Program project to build a new refrigeration system for the Icing Research Tunnel; all heavy refrigeration equipment has been received and set in the just-completed 8,400 square foot building and the high voltage electrical work has resumed with major cable trays and conduits installed.

Exploration: The Stennis Space Center (SSC) successfully concluded all A-3 test stand activities completing the water & steam piping and test cell ducting, in addition to acquisition of the Low Speed Signal Conditioning equipment. Completed the CCDev Emergency Detection System (EDS) demonstration report and review.

Science: At the Dryden Flight Research Center (DFRC) for Venture Class, the Carbon in Arctic Reservoirs Vulnerability Experiment (CARVE) conducted final aircraft flight data testing, and approved the CARVE system and spares deployment in preparation for initial flights planned to start in late April in Alaska .

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): NASA continues to support a performance audit on the Cross-Agency Support JSC Hurricane Repair activities which began on August 31st.

Planned Actions

NASA will continue quality assurance of quarterly recipient reporting in April.

Aeronautics: Supersonics at GRC test planning and preparation will continue in support of the April 2011 wind tunnel testing, and IRT Refrigeration and Tunnel HEX Project Controls system factory acceptance test planned for April 27th at the Tullahoma, TN, Facility.

Exploration: The ARES (Upper Stage) Vertical Assembly Tool software coding will continue in April.

Science: Continue Research Science, Virtual Terrestrial Observation and Prediction System (V-TOPS), sensor network installations in California; and Venture Class flight planning and a Flight Readiness Review (FRR) for the Carbon in Arctic Reservoirs Vulnerability Experiment (CARVE). The Airborne Science Cryospheric Evolution of the Central Antarctic Plate (ICECAP) flights for boundary conditions, and the Airborne Microwave Observatory of Subcanopy and Subsurface (AirMOSS) radar performance trade study, mechanical configuration and GeoSAR antenna performance; and the Research and Analysis Irrigation Optimization Task deployment of surface renewal instrumentation with DWR and Ryan Palm Farms, will continue in April.

Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): All CAS restoration projects are completed; no additional repairs are planned.
